The power of the bell.


K’s House in Tokyo and Kyoto was a welcome change from the virtual homeless shelter that is Khaosan Tokyo Annex, where their free bed offer to anyone willing to do chores 5 days a week attracted a certain type of traveller. You never had to wait your turn for the shower though.


Himeji Castle

Built some 400 years ago, it was never attacked until American warplanes targeted the town of Himeji in WWII. Though the town was completely leveled, the castle remained relatively unscathed.


What came next violated the natural order of things.


Central Tokyo.


Kobe v. Lebron was plastered all over the place in anticipation for a Lakers / Cavs Finals.


Hongye hot springs Rueisui.


This old temple has since found itself in the middle of a busy Taipei street market, so there are now street venders selling food all around it, including on its steps.


The cleanest Chinatown I’ve seen, found only in Japan. Cute panda buns. Food super expensive (Ex. 1 bao for $4 and 12 hai gao for $12)!!
